Hello, I'm Emily
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in London, United Kingdom.
Several years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t part of the plan I had in mind for the long run. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more significant.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built QuiMelnExiMaven
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on knowledge gained from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real update occurs
This site isn't:
- Not an official tourism authority resource
- Not a paid-review platform
- Not just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United Kingdom continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emily
